BELLINGHAM HERALD

The local Bellingham paper ran their feature on MIGHTY MAX today. As we ran around town for his numerous appointments, several nurses stopped us and said, "hey is that Max that was in today's paper?" Too funny. I stopped at Starbucks for a much needed lift and bought a bunch of papers and of course proudly showed everyone..."that is my son!" There is a big photo on the front page and basically the whole page of the front feature section. Great publicity for CHARGE and Children's Hospital...and of course sweet, gorgeous, adorable Mr. Max.

For those of you not in Bham and want to see Max's latest coverage: http://news.bellinghamherald.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060108/LIFE02/601080314&SearchID=73232026015668

Amy and Max, Welcome to Bellingham, a community of great support for individuals diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome! It is wonderful you two have finally made it home from Children's Hospital in Seattle.

Reading the article in the Bellingham's paper on Sunday brought back memories for my family and I. My son, Shaun, is presently 12 yrs. old and in 6th grade. Shaun also has been diagnosed w/ CHARGE syndrome. Numerous surgeries, and more to come... but after a while it's just part of our daily expectations.

Shaun too has exceeded the doctor's expectations in more ways than one... We also started with the Birth to Three program, then on to Whatcom Early Learning Center, on finally on to Developmental Preschool in the Public School System. These programs are FANTASTIC, because of the wonderful qualified specialists in each of these programs.

I could go on & on....but...the main reason I'm writing is to let you know that YOU have support here and it's a wonderful community. I'm happy to hear Max is feeling better.

We live in Blaine and am available at any time, if you would like to contact us. Have a great day! eye1007@aol.com

WOW!!! What a wonderful article on
Max and you. I loved readying it and looking at the picture of you holding Max in your arms.
I will pray that Max gets over his cold quickly and that the two of you can get some much needed rest.
Your sister must just be beside
her self with joy now that you two are home and close.
You two take care, I will continue to pray for Max's health. I think you have the rest of him well taken care of. Your a wonderful Mom Amy, I knew you would be, just by the way you care so much about other people. You have a BIG heart!
Lots of hugs and kisses for Maxi,
I love you two!

amy,

I cried while I read the article on Sunday. I am just so overwhelmed with joy for you, Max and your entire family. I have saved the paper and will put it with one I saved the day Griffin was born. Keep getting strong Mighty Max!

Love
Rebecca

What a great news story! It's terrific that so many people can read about Mighty Max and learn about CHARGE. In the meantime, I hope he starts to feel better soon and that you both are able to get some rest.

Love and hugs from WV,

Amy -- what an amazing article! The reporter did such a great job capturing your spirit, Maxwell's spirit...the whole experience. And what a gorgeous picture of you two!

Leaving for my work trip on Monday and would like to do something for Mighty Max while I'm over there...hoping something meaningful will strike me.
