I had a very good session today with my Occupational Therapist Eileen. And since I have been making such great progress, Mom thought she better take a few photos to capture these fun milestone moments!

I am working really hard learning how to sit unassisted. Last week we started having me lean forward and play with toys on this bench...and it helped so much! Mom started crying when I did it the first time! She gets so excited about my progress!

Hard at work at my bench! Eileen is right by my side helping if I start to fall...she's so great!

Now Eileen is trying a different technique...sitting me on my bench and having me reach for the sticky toys on the mirror. But c'mon Eileen, how can I focus on the toys when I can look at my own adorable reflection?!? :)

This position also helps strengthen my upper body. It's not one of my favorites, but I'll give it a go for Eileen and Mommy.

Strengthening my legs is another priority. I used to absolutely refuse to put any weight on my legs, but slowly but surely I am making progress in this area too! But only on mats...I just don't like my little feet to touch carpet, it freaks me out!

Oh, Maxwell, how wonderful to see you sitting up!!! I am sure your mommy cried - I did too. You look completely in control of the situation. I know it's hard to concentrate when you see a mirror. It's difficult for you not to look at yourself with your beautiful hair and long eyelashes. I also loved the picture of you with the cookie - you look so grown up. I am waiting to see your tooth. You will probably have others soon.

Love you.

Amy and Max - Your strength and dignity in the face of astounding odds is truly inspirational. Libby and I log on every day to see how the little guy is doing. She asks about baby Max whenever she sees me on the computer, and gets mad at me when there are no pictures to look at ;-). I have been rivetted by your story and brought to tears and laughter more times than I can count in the months since I stumbled upon your blog. You are a remarkable mom, Amy, and an even more amazing human being, to remain positive and determined in the face of others' negative energy and selfishness. As for you, Max, if you were any cuter, it would be a crime! Those chubby cheeks and big brown eyes are to die for. Please know you're in our thoughts and prayers every day here in Memphis.
